Also, the engines are probably from a ZX-12, not a Hayabusa. The Hayabusa V8 has a 2.6. This is a 2.4, or two 1.2L Kawasaki engines.

At a 10,000 RPM redline, rev speed is entirely dependent on your driveline gearing.

Not "driveable" as in "can't drive it"
"driveable" as in doesn't have a cage, stripped interior, racing shell seat, straight cut gears and an ear splitting exhaust.

Its not a hayabusa based motor; Synergy makes Ninja-based V8s (11K RPM!!) and connects them at the crank; each one retails at $70K and according to Speedhunters, there are currently only two in existence.

There are two manufacturers of these type of engines I have come across. Hartley and Synergy. Hartley used Hayabusa heads and Synergy used Ninja heads.

At the end of the day, it's a preference thing I guess. Something about the exposed carbon and vertical heads on the latter just make me want it so badly. Still, it's nice to see JUN bringing out some heavy-hitting demo cars (I'm sure it would have made headlines regardless of which swap they did). This year's TAS was quite a spectacle.

Just think of a "cheap CNC/3D printer in every garage" future. Where we can all share engine block and crank models that will allow us to build our own version of this engine.

That would be amazing, especially with Local Motors really pushing for community involvement (it was their 3D car at CES, was it not?) I actually got to play around with Makerbots during my high school robotics years when they were a few grand per unit - the resins weren't up to par on strength but for prototyping, they were perfect for trial before we went with ahead on CNC and aluminum parts.
